Progressive Careers & Housing’s mission is to provide an array of social and life services focusing on individual enhancement, growth and independence for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Progressive Careers & Housing was founded in the mid-1980s to provide long-term services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Also known as Progressive Housing, Inc., Progressive Careers & Housing is a not-for-profit, federally tax exempt, corporation.
By 2000, Progressive Careers & Housing operated six Intermediate Care Facilities (ICFs) and four Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs) throughout mid and southern Illinois. Understanding the growing need for residential services in a more integrated setting, Progressive assisted in the closure of a large 130 person – institutional facility by opening CILA homes in the Chicagoland area. Today, Progressive provides services and supports to more than 250 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in many communities throughout the state of Illinois. Over 80% of the individuals have a clinical dual diagnosis. Approximately 60% of the individuals are males and 40% are females. Almost 20% of the individuals previously resided at a State Operated Developmental Center. Residential operations are evenly split between CILAs and ICFs. Progressive Careers & Housing has a Developmental Training (DT) program in northern Illinois.
Today Progressive Careers & Housing offers an array of programs and services to promote advocacy, create opportunities and honor individuality. Programs and services include: Residential, DT, Case Management, Home Based Support Services, Nursing Care, and Behavioral Health Services overseen by a team of certified behavior analysts trained in and making use of positive behavioral supports.
